common exotics

Built for the demanding footpaths of Dominion Road in Auckland, these sculptures provide a splash of colour and decoration as well as a place to sit.

Named Common Exotics, these works have blossomed from nearby suburban gardens and hybridised to become exotic versions of common wrought iron furniture.

Two groupings have been built and installed along Dominion Road as temporary artworks. Five years later one group of Common Exotics is still flourishing, the other group having fallen victim to an out of control car.
